Published: 15 Apr 2016
The Red Dot Award jury has once again recognized Veryday’s people-driven philosophy and high-quality design. This year, Veryday received the Red Dot Best of the Best Award for our collaboration with IKEA on the game-changing SLADDA bicycle. Veryday also received Red Dot Product Design Awards for the Winsor & Newton Pigment Markers, the Orkla Care First Aid Kit, BabyBjörn baby carriers: We Air and One Outdoors and the Icare ic100 Tonometer.
Red Dot is the largest design competition in the world and is internationally established as one of the most appreciated quality seals for outstanding design. Veryday succeeded against extremely ambitious competitors, with an international expert panel auditing more than 5,200 products from 50+ countries. Winning these awards reflects the high quality of all our projects and our strong commitment to people-driven innovation.
SLADDA – Red Dot Best of the Best Award
The Veryday design team applied IKEA’s long heritage of accessibility and Democratic Design Approach to create a bike that breaks all the rules. SLADDA has been rigorously tested to insure a reliable, safe and eco-friendly lifestyle, and was created with Veryday’s user insight methods to accommodate a broad range of people in their everyday lives.
BabyBjörn – Red Dot Product Design Award
The BabyBjörn baby carriers We Air and One Outdoors, both received Red Dot Awards for their high-quality design, degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics and durability. The We Air baby carrier has an optimized ergonomic leg position for the baby. With the airy mesh fabric and extra padded shoulder straps it is designed to be one of the lightest and most comfortable baby carriers on the market.
The baby carrier One Outdoors is designed for active parents who want to enjoy outdoor activities with their toddlers. Its broad and extra padded support for the shoulders and waist, functional materials, smart features and storage bag make it ideal for a family day out. In order to fully understand the needs of the user, people-insight methods were applied, using prototypes and test-users to ensure high comfort and quality.
Winsor & Newton Pigment Markers – Red Dot Product Design Award
Together with the Winsor & Newton in-house team that worked on pigment technology, the Veryday design team set out to understand the various parameters and considerations for the design of a new market-leading pen through research and idea generation. The result is a next-generation pen aimed at professionals and artists that’s guaranteed to be lightfast for at least 100 years.
Orkla care, First Aid Kit – Red Dot Product Design Award
Proper first aid is important and can make the difference between life and death. Cederroth First Aid’s innovative products and solutions enable ordinary people to administer first aid without previous training. Armed with deep knowledge in the field of user-friendly medical products, the Veryday design team set out to create a next-generation mobile first aid kit for the workplace.
Icare ic100 Tonometer – Red Dot Product Design Award
The medical company Icare has long offered a superior method of rapidly screening mass populations for glaucoma. To fully understand various users needs and improve the existing tonometer range, Veryday applied design research methods to test ideas on different prototypes and mockups. The result is a considerable improvement on Icare’s current market-leading tonometer – a significant upgrade compared to competitors in the same market segment.
All Red Dot Award winners will be announced on July 9, 2016, at a glamorous awards ceremony to be held at the Alto Theater in Essen, Germany.
